Accompanist
Jeremy Chan is an Australian pianist and vocal coach based in New York City. His playing has been praised as “superb” and for “summoning about as much color as can possibly be coaxed out” (New York Classical Review). Jeremy is on staff at Juilliard and the Manhattan School of Music, and serves as Director of Music at Advent Lutheran Church.
Jeremy loves collaborating with singers and instrumentalists alike and is delighted to accompany Central City Chorus for the 2022-23 season. He plays auditions regularly for opera companies, competitions, conductors, and managers, and was an official pianist for the distinguished Naumburg 2020-21 International Vocal Competition. Jeremy has worked on over 25 opera productions around the United States, as well as the 2017 China tour of Bright Sheng’s Dream of the Red Chamber.
His recent engagements include Ariadne auf Naxos at the Lakes Area Music Festival, residencies at Yellow Barn with the Vertex Duo, music director for Juilliard Opera Lab and Justine Chen's Seven Sisters workshop, and performances at Wigmore Hall, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and St. John’s in the Village.
As a chamber musician, Jeremy has performed with the American String Quartet and the Hector del Curto Quintet. Jeremy sat on the selection committee for the Steinway & Sons 2019 Junior Piano Competition and on the peer review committee for the 2020 Arts Fund with the American Australian Association.
Jeremy received degrees from Queens College and Manhattan School of Music, and fellowships from Juilliard, Tanglewood, Georg Solti Accademia, Toronto Summer Music Festival, and the Vancouver International Song Institute.
Outside of music, Jeremy enjoys yoga, tea, and food adventures. Jeremy also moonlights as a cover pianist for various popular music from Adele to Korean drama songs under the pseudonym Nangman Pianist.
